Back across the pond, this was taken in the Lincoln Memorial. Another photographer, Scott Jarvie, was in town and had sent out an all-call for a photowalk around the monuments. I met him there with a couple of other photographers and we wandered around the evening, well, shooting the monuments. Personally, the monuments themselves have never been terribly interesting as photographic subjects; if you come here you have to see them, and all that, I just never felt like I needed that many photos of them. Usually when I'm at the monuments, I'll turn and try and take some photographs focusing on the people instead.
When I took this one, I actually thought it was about the man more in the center taking a snap with his iPad (I still can't imagine that, it just seems awkward) until I got back and saw the woman in the front, and that instantly made the photo for me.
