Best of 2013: 6 of 13
Let's rewind a bit. I got in a few days before my friends on the Europe trip so I could have a day and a half solo (well, with camera, at least) in Paris. I'd never been and had solicited ideas for where to go and what to look at. Obviously, the Eiffel Tower was on the list. On that subject, another photographer friend, Nev, weighed in: “Go to the Tower, enjoy it. Touch it. Make love to her. Do not go up. It will waste your time to do so (lines are forever long) and getting a birds-eye view of Paris is about getting the Eiffel Tower IN the shot. Your best vantage of her is Arc de Triomphe's rooftop - which is amazing. I would like to live there.”
So it was settled. This was taken from the rooftop of the Arc de Triomphe. I actually only recently re-discovered this shot of the tower a few weeks ago in going through my shots. It had been lost in a set of other photos and ignored until I saw it again. It was quickly processed, saved, and printed as a Christmas present for my sister.
