Best of 2013: 2 of 13
Continuing the best of routine, this was taken one night in April in Georgetown. I had accepted an "assignment" from another photographer to show him my best night photography shot. I don't do a lot of night shooting (and that was partly what had inspired his challenge), and I didn't have much of a plan, but one evening I decided to drive down to Georgetown (where I'd never really been before) and wander around to see if anything caught my eye.
After a bit of wandering around, I turned down a side street and walked around the canal for a little bit when I shot this. I didn't have my tripod with me, so in order to get a better shutter speed I ramped up the ISO and the aperture and hoped I could come out with something. If I had to whittle myself down to a top three for the year, this one would be almost guaranteed to make the cut.
